"Hmm, belum masa lagi, in shaa Allah, soon."
"Benda tu kewajipan kot, kesian parents ko"
"Aku just nak sure, so that aku tak main-main bila pakai, tak on-off"
"Alah, apa yang susah sangat. Sure kan je la"
I still remember this conversation I had with a friend of mind who is a guy. I had this conversation with him a few times and I'm telling you, it got quite irritating after awhile. Not because I didn't want to wear hijab, but because he preached it so many times, I felt some rebellion in me. (I finally did wear hijab, it's been two years already and I have no problems with it whatsoever because as I said above, I want to be ready, and I was)
This post is actually about how I don't approve of some comments given by guys on our attire. While the comments you give are valid, and yes, when girls opt to wear hijab, we should cover all our lady-parts, you guys should really reflect yourselves in the mirror first before your fingers start fleeting on the keyboard (or keypad) typing "Girls, Hijab and Tights? What the Hell?"
Yes, there are things we see that we don't agree with. Of course wearing hijab with cap sleeves and tights is not approriate. But please, take a raincheck guys, who said it was so okay to wear your above-the-knee shorts? Who said it was so okay to watch adult movies? Who said it was okay to even look twice at girls?
I very well know a few answers to this. They'll simply answer "Alaa, dah banyak sangat macam ni and dia jalan depan mata, tengok je la". Tengok je la? eat my foot la please. Like you guys don't have the ability to look away? Oh and something like, "lelaki memang macam ni, memang fitrah kiteorang suka tengok perempuan," Aaaa, and when you say all this, you forget all the things you've preached and sacrifice to your "fitrah"?
What I'm simply saying is, boys please, reflect yourselves before lashing out your comments. Saying that something is wrong is fine, but if you yourselves are not respectful, then don't expect people to heed your opinion.
Oh and another reason I didn't like talking to him about it,
"Hmmm, tak susah pun, cuba kau try pakai,"
"Tak nak ah, mesti panas"
